To answer your last point, look at Some parts of Victoria, the very south of NSW and Tasmania. They are all fairly rural to some degree and probably greener than most parts of Oz.

You will detest the Queenland and Northern territory climates (and northern parts of Western Australia), but the very south of WA may also be an option.

If it is too hot you live south if too cold you go north.

The Southern Highlands of NSW, is best, Green, Clean and Cool all year around. I live there now and I am not moving

Tasmania - it's absolutely gorgeous, chock full of wildlife, scenery, and wilderness. It is very liveable with lovely smaller cities and towns. The weather is warm in summer, and cool to cold in winter. You'd just love it.
