Am an asian indian - should study in us or in india?

i am really confused about this one. i am an asian indian(from India) student and have spent lot of money in preparing for JEE (entrance exam to get into the best college in india i.e IIT) . frankly i am intelligent but not a hard worker especially when i am suppose to do monotonous and mechanical numericals (which are most essential for getting admission in the IIT college). i think an education system should be more about application based ques. rather then questions we have to cram.

i am currently in 12th grade and this is the most crucial year of my life.

please tell an answer efficiently as i take my career seriously.

another problem is that i don't have anybody in usa.no relative or friends.so i wonder if that can be a problem

  1. hm, had da same prob.lol...frankly, id ask u to rethink the idea thts thre regarding IITs...they r d bst institutions no doubt, bt they are hyped nonetheless.....and this system requires machines who are able to churn out problems after problems to "crack" the JEE as its usually put.....and the very purpose of the IIT and JEE exams is srta lost...id rather have them give us project works, and analyse them nd then let us into the "prestigious" institutions.....

i prepare fer one year for IIT and AIEEE and managed to get a decent rnk thtd get me in2 an NIT bt nt fer d course i wntd, so i opted fer a decent coll thru CET instead...jus do somethng tht wnt necessarily wring u dry and put an intelligent label on ur forehead while leaving u all  frustrated ^_^. but i guess u knw ths already....i suggest tht u do ur B.E. in india, answer d GATE exams and go abroad for ur M.Tech ^_^

  2. going by what you said i think you should go the US mainly because studies there would be more of practical application compared to india.so no issue of 'monotonous work'.

and since you will be on your own there you will have to work out certain issues-accomodatio, managing expenses, health, travel and the like....and going by experince insurance will be one of the most important. in fact there is this really cool insurance plan that icici lomabrd has come up with...you should definetely check it out...http://chaloamerica.in/

  3. if you can get into IIT nothing like it. you will get tremendous exposure and moving to the US will be easy after that. if you cannot, and are fed up with the indian way of studying, and can afford US education, move.
