  1. that means 800-1000$ right?, one pound= 2$ right ? Lol.

You should check out the nikon d60   (650$)

you should check out the nikon d80    (900$)

you should check out the rebel xt         (around 450$)

you should check out the rebel xti        (around 650$)

you should check out the rebel xsi       (around 850$)

Those are some of the most recent/fan-raved digital slr's on the market to do. I don't think it's possible to get bad pictures from a camera like this :P

  2. Get an SLR, a film one might be best.

Film SLR - they use less battery power than a digital one and the quality is better. Spend maybe £200 on the body and the rest on 2 good lenses, a zoom one, maybe 20-80mm range and a long distance one, maybe 500mm - the animals will be quite a way away so the long lense is needed. If possible get a tripod or monopod to rest the camera on to tke the long distance shots. Try to get a known make, such as Canon, Pentax, Minolta.... you will get the better quality lenses with them.

    -EDIT-

Oh, and here is another thought, with the rush to go digital there will be some real second hand bargains out there for the camera bodies - £1000 bodies could be in your price range.

And another thought I just had - if you think you might want a digitial SLR in the future, get the film version now and that way the lenses will fit the digital one when you get that
