  1. If you have a 'green card' or 'Lawful Permanent Resident/Alien Resident Card' you are a resident. If you have a green I-94, it sounds like you are an illegal alien. How did you get the social security number?


  2. If you have a green card you are already a Lawful Permanent Resident. That is the proper name of the card.Green card is only a nickname.Social security card is nothging to do with it lots of classes of people can have that.

    How can you be a non-us resident if you are already a PERMANENT resident?

    If you have been a permanent resident for at least 5 years,  are of good moral character, have not been out of the US for a continuous period of more than six months during tha last 5 years, and meetb a few other requirements, you can apply to become a citizen.
