I weigh 96 kilos and I am 6 foot 3 and i dont carry any excess weight but i not as big muscle wise as i can be. I am 16 years old I can run quite fast but i not the quickest around. My agility is good and have a strong pass. Where would be my best position to play? I would like to play big time but have I started to late ? i have played a little and have been told I could go far?

  1. If you have very good rugby knowledge and are good at kicking flyu half,if you know alot about rugby inside centre,or if you are a beginner maybe second row or number 8?

  2. Go out and play. You don't need height and weight credentials to go join a rugby team. If you want to play rugby go do it. Personally I'm 5'9 and a half and 180 pounds. I'm pretty strong, but I play back, and hey, I made the North Carolina State Rugby team. Just go play man.

  3. Try stand off or Inside centre

  4. I agree with most everyone here....just join a team/club and play....go for it :)

  5. Mate, I'm only 70kg and I'm 16. If you weigh 96 and have good agility then you are an absolute tank.

I play flyhalf, you could prob play anywhere.

Depending on your speed. I would probably put you in the forwards; but you would be a nice inside centre.

You could still play big time, it doesn't matter how late you start, it matters ho much skill you have.

  6. Firstly, you must need a strong training ethic, followed by a passion in the belly to play this game be prepared to make sacrifices to achieve to play at the greatest level, this is no longer a game of brute strength like when i played but in todays game you need to think strategy ,an have the ability to not just outplay your opponent but to outhink them as well, the ability to sidestep off both feet, know when to slip the cutout pass or the inside pass, 96kgs 6'3 is good can you jump well? you have not started late , as for postion, that will sort itself out ,your coach will have a good understsanding but try to be adaptable, remember you will take some hard knocks in this game so i hope you will remember there are 14 other players depending on you so, get back up into position as a good team player will, this inside comes from 25yrs playing experience & 5 yrs as a junior coach, now get off the couch an chase your dream!!! good luck....the coach

  7. I would say that by the size of you you would fit into any league side but dont try out for AFL because with those stats I think you would get slaughted.

    REAL MEN PLAY AFL

  8. Do you prefer league or union? Make a decision and join a club and start playing. See what your coach says as far as your best position. If you have a favorite position then try out for that. If you are fast and agile on your feet, you could be a winger, or in the scrum somewhere. It really depends on where you feel most comfortable playing.
