  1. Just do it.  If you make it through BCT and AIT, chances are you didn't make a stupid choice.

  2. What does your gut tell you? Are you willing to serve your country in manner that would give you honor. Then there'sthe job. What do you want to do or what do you already know how to do. Are you in good mental and phsycal shape. Can you talorate being told what to do, when to do it, where to do it, what color to do it in. Do you have leadership qualities. Check with the military branches and see if there is a job you want to do for two or three years and what you want to do later on in life. In other words, research. Go to your nearest VA hospital and talk to some Vets. Find out how they felt while serving and how they feel about it today.

  3. I think you have to ask yourself how well you handle responsibility and authority over you.  If you don't accept authority very well and follow the rules that you should now then the military can be a pretty unforgiving place.  While its true that they do straighten out some individuals they really don't want that burden.  This all carries over to everything in the military from where you go, live, and work, along with what you do and how you do it.  Instead they want a recruit that they can mold and shape but not have to babysit or take the next several years to mature and learn how to follow directions and orders.  That is the first thing I think anyone should consider before joining the military.  This coupled with what your short, intermediate and long-range goals are become important questions.  Once in the military it and it's expectations come first.  Many people still find in spite of some differences and demands the military puts on them that it is a means whereby they can achieve some of those goals.  Things like training, education benefits, temporary employment are things that can facilitate you accomplishing your goals but at times may be short circuited temporarily by the military and what it has intended for you.  So there is a certain amount of tradeoff there and for some it is balanced more one way than the other and so you will get a number of different responses to your question.  In the end you have to ultimately try to make the best decision for yourself so read, reserach, and consider things from a number of different perspectives and you will be more apt to make the best decision that you can make.

  4. You have to think about if this is what you want to do. You need to consider are you physically active and healthy. And also if you want to do it and you think joining is the right thing then do it. And don't worry about what other people say to you every will have an opinion. and like i have heard, opinion's are like buttholes everyone has one and they all stink.

  5. You don't really know till you get there you can be all macho and motivated but still have anxiety attacks or something of the like that will prevent you from ever being a good service member at least in the eyes of the  government. Just give it a whirl at least you could say you tried and it wasn't for you just don't try and get out cause your scared or some c**p like that you'll regret for the rest of your life if you get discharged anything other than honorably.
