  1. yeah you have to or else it starts smelling really bad

  2. I dont think you should take it out just use warm water and soap and clean around it. Dont go up sizes that fast, it might not hurt anymore after 4 days but its not totally healed if you go this fast you could end up with a blowout.

  3. ew...

    i think those look discusting.

  4. Usually you can just clean it while it's in your ear..

and if you stretch every 4 days either your lobe is going to rip, or youre going to get a blow out and end up being forced to take it out.

here are pictures on the consequences of stretching too fast

    take it slow, be patient.

  5.     You should definitely clean it daily. but not nessesarily remove it from your ear everyday. When you stretch your ear you are basically creating an open wound which is likely to get infected. When cleaning, remove the gauge (every few days), clean it using your cleaner of choice (I ighly recommend Bactine.) Then clean your ear using a twisted tissue at first, then when it's larger you can fit a Q-tip. make sure your hands are clean when you put it back in. also twist the gauge several times a day.

Up one size every four days is pretty quick though. Gauging takes a while, and understandably you want immediate results, but doing it that quickly puts you at risk for splitting (the inside of the hole cracking from doing it too quickly). When that happens it takes even longer to heal. I basically waited until it didn't hurt to reinsert the earring after cleaning, then moved up. Good luck!
