Am i dyslexic????

Question

today for my class, we took notes, and instead of writing the word shows, i wrote shoes, and instead of writing cool, i wrote call, and i sometimes mix up words when i read it, does this mean im dyslexic? should i get a check up???

No, it sounds like you just can't spell.

Try reading through a yellow tinted film.  It sounds crazy, but it helps some people with dyslexia.  It is a simple test and there is not the same stigma that there used to be.  It is a minor stumbling block, but not a barricade.

Its not uncommon for Dyslexics to mix up words and letters, however there is usually other problems too such as learning letters and their sounds or reversing letters e.g. letters b's and d's when reading or writing them.

The only way your going to find out if your Dyslexic, is for you to see a qualified person who specialize in Dyslexia. But please do check the below web sites out.

My school years were h**l due to my not being able to read until I was 14, was seriously hopeless at maths (Dyscalculia ) yet I could write very well. When our daughter was diagnosed as having Dyslexia I was found to have Dyslexia too.

I have In Dyslexia without Dysgraphia, where as my daughter has In Dyslexia with Dysgraphia, and we both have Dyscalculia. My daughter wears pale blue Irlen lenses (tinted lenses), which has helped her immensely both with reading and writing.

No, I do not think that you are dyslexic.  I do however, think that you are like a lot of other people, in that what you read may not always be what you see.  Reading the word shoes instead of shows, just means that in that  particular sentence you thought it said shoes because you were thinking about shoes.  The same with cool, maybe you were thinking you should call someone.  Everyone mixes up words when they read because they don't want to read what is written, but what they want it to say.  You are more than likely not dyslexic, just a common reader who reads what they want and not what they really see.  I hope this helps you!
