i know getting the procedure wont guarantee me a spot but i just want to know if repairing it will allow me to join....i cant figure out how to word it to make sense but some things disqualify you even if you fix them. my medical records say i have a mitral valve prolapse with a TRACE of regurgitation. that was from tests done fix years ago. i'm going sometime next month to get the tests done again to see if anything has changed. i really want to join. i've been talking with my recruiter about it i just never asked if fixing it would be ok and right now i'm in crazy "havetofigurethisoutnow" mode and am looking for some opinions or suggestions. help?!

  1. Your current condition disqualifies you. Any surgical repair of that condition will also disqualify you, since that would be a surgical correction of a valvular disease. The source below is the medical standard.

  2. I honestly think it is a dq. You will have to look up the medical standard though to see for sure. You basically have to have heart surgery, right? I don't think the military messes around with people's hearts.

  3. If you still have regurgitation you will be DQ if not then you might be able to obtain a waiver.

b] a. All valvular heart diseases, congenital (746) or acquired (394), including those improved by surgery except mitral valve prolapse and bicuspid aortic valve. These latter two conditions are not reasons for rejection unless there is associated tachyarrhythmia, mitral regurgitation, aortic stenosis, insufficiency, or cardiomegaly.
