I started playing 2 years ago, and didn't pay attention to it until this year, and....I feel like I'm not good enough like the rest of my friends. D: I don't understand chords so I go by tabs, is that cheating? I don't know if i'm good or not for my level, what's the best way to get good at guitar, and fast?

  1. "Chord  House " will  be  a  good  site  for  you  ,with  sound  and  diagram, while  you  at  it  just  type  in " guitar  exercises " and  it  will  take  you  there  and  learn  your  chords  it  is  only  seven  of  them  to  start  with  and  you  will  be  really  good  at  it  if  you  really  do  the  exercises .....................

                                         practice,practice,practice......enjoy

  2. Never worry that you friends appear better than you, because it doesn't matter which level you attain, there will always be someone out there better. Ask any rock star who their idol is, and everyone will give you a name.t is an instiment that hasnever been mastered. Keep practicing and get as good as you can get. You will always be better than somene else

  3. You can;'t learn guitar so fast.

but take videos on line. Chords are pretty easy.

You know why your friends got so good/

Because they learned and practice really hard. Which is what you need to do if you want to get good. since now you appreciate guitar, now you have an effort to practice everyday.

it takes patience to learn guitar. So be patient.

  4. Tabs aren't cheating but it's good to know the names of chords. Get a chord chart to post on your wall and spend 15 minutes studying it everyday. Also, learning the notes on the strings and what makes up chords also helps. Give it 90 days. It takes about two months to fully learn something. The problem with a lot of beginners is that they rush through everything. Be paitent. As for people being better then you, it happens. For every  hobby, sport etc, there will alway be someone better then you but you can't think about that. You have to think your the best.

It doesn't matter how long it's been since you picked up the guitar, it matters how much you practice. And that, in my opinion, makes up your level. Right now you probably should be practicing about an hour to two hours everyday. Spend a lot more time on technique then learning songs for now. Once your techinque is down songs will be so much easier. And if it's really getting to you that your friends seem better then you just remember why you picked up the guitar in the first place. :)

    Hope that helps.
