  1. YES! I think you are doing a great job and well on your way.  The more work like this that you can do, the better.  It gives you hands on experience and images to place in a portfolio.

I liked how you layered the images and blended certain parts, like the hair.  I think you have a creative eye, which is always needed!

Photoshop is one powerful tool, there is always more you can do and learn.  In some cases, it is great to get a hold of reading materials to see ideas and then try them yourself.  On the other hand, the world is at your fingertips... you can create, mix, and combine different photoshop techniques to come up with your very own unique style. And the only way to do this is trial and error.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks for reading!

  2. if you like the topic then i don't see why you shouldn't do it. don't let anybody discourage you.

it's very obvious you have potential but i think you should branch out a bit more in terms of digital art. try playing with compositing images. shapes, colours etc. don't just use pre-made textures and brushes but use elements to build up the image, things like graphics art is more dependent on those things, but also don't neglect the use of free resources!

if your interested in multimedia you should also try branching out into animation and things like flash, although its a lot different from photoshop.
