Am i just plain tired, or could it be something more serious?

i'm 33weeks pregnant.

i have gestational diabetes, i have recently started insulin and am slowly figuring out the right dose (with the help of a specialist that i see 3 times a week).

i have high blood pressure, which i see a doctor for twice a week.

my parents split up last week, and i helped mum move out (i didn't over do it).

my husband lost his job last week leaving us unemployed.

i'm tired.

it's 2pm here in Australia and there is a parcel waiting for collection at the Post Office, but all i want to do is sleep. I'm still in my PJs...

Do you have days like this? I'm normally so full of life, but today i just want to cuddle up and read a book. I worry it might be because of my blood sugar or my blood pressure...

what do you think?

Should i call up the doctors? rest? go get that parcel and go for a walk in some fresh air?

all advice is welcome :)

by the way - my little baby boy is full of energy - he can kick so hard food falls off my plate now lol

  1. Hey, I'm 33 weeks along as well! =)

I've felt very tired as well since hitting the third trimester. From what my midwife says, it's pretty normal and the best thing you can do for yourself is allow yourself to rest as much as you need to since our babies will be here keeping us awake and busy all the time soon enough. Somedays it helps me to get out in the fresh air, but there are a lot of days where nothing helps me and all I want to do is curl up in bed.

Edited to add: It wouldn't hurt to bring it up to your doctor at your next appointment, just so she can do some bloodwork and check your iron levels to make sure that's not why you're so tired. My bloodwork all came back fine though, I'm just a sleepy pregnant woman =P

  2. It is totally normal to be tired. It will last until the end. Try to get some sleep and don't feel guilty about it. That was my biggest problem...feeling guilty about sleeping all the time. You need and it sounds like you really deserve it! I'm so sorry for all the stress! I hope things get better.

  3. it sounds like it could be either one of two things. one being you are just tired and stressed and are needing the extra sleep. two being you are deficient in somthing vital to your body (i.e. iron ) i was completely lathargic and super tired all the time. turns out i was anemic and the doc started me on iron. boy has that made a difference. i am still tired (im pregnant ) but not like i was feeling before. share this concern with your doctor and let him/her know about maybe being a little bit too tired.

  4. You are tired --- physically, mentally, emotionally ..... you've had a lot to deal with on top of being pregnant.

If you need to cuddle up with a book and destress for a day or so, do it.  Just make sure you are eating and drinking correctly.

If this mood continues, please talk to your doctors.

    Good luck ....

  5. I don't know if this helps..but im 5 months pregnant and I am always ridiculously tired.   I'm all about taking naps.  Listen to your body...talk to your specialist or doctor if you are concerned.

  6. I tell you what, I'm a diabetic too and when I get my blood sugars down to a more normal level or even a little low, I am definitely low energy.  But then again, being pregnant is just plain tiring especially the third trimester.

I'm finding I can get exhausted when I haven't really done anything other than spending time talking to people and being social. It just wears me out like crazy.  Stress wears you out and it sounds like you're going through some tough times. Just listen to your body and rest when you feel like you need it, there's no shame in that!

Oh, and the more the baby kicks the tireder I get, too.  Then I get tired thinking of all the sleep deprivation to come, oy.
