i was with my friend telling him about how i have been watching the pens and redwings series and how i really like malkin and staal and crosby. My friend thinks im not a true Ranger fan because of this. I personally think I am but since i can't watch the rangers and i do love hockey i want to watch the other games. is that a bad thing?

  1. no, you're a good fan of the game of hockey. what if one day, any of those players play for NYR? would he still not enjoy them playing? you have to be objective.

good hockey is STILL good hockey. it shouldn't matter the logo on the front.

i enjoyed watching the ducks ALL last year. (this year too.)

forsberg has some crazy skills and he was great to watch. (even though i detest him ... mostly because of his style of play and penalty - causing / drawing). but he's still a great player. same thing w/ Roy.

  2. It makes you a hockey fan AND a Rangers fan.  Heck I like watching Malkin Crosby and Staal, too, and they are locked in a bitter rivalry with my favourite team right now.

    Go Wings

  3. Absoultely not a bad thing, and this is coming from an Isles fan.  I watch as much hockey as I can.  This shows you are a fan of the sport and not just one team, you can like other players and repect them for their play without jeopardizing your love of your team.  Maybe your friend isn't the true fan, because you need to love the game before you can really love a team.  It's not as if you jumped ship and are going to root for the Pens or the Wings when the regular season comes around....

  4. i am a die hard ranger fan and i have been watching other playoff games too. i also like malkin and staal but i don't feel the same way you do about crosby. your not a true hockey fan if you don't watch other games especially during the playoffs and the finals. your friends maybe are kidding but if they aren't they are just stupid. I like alot of players from different teams but that doesn't mean i am not a huge ranger fan. what your friends are saying doesn't make any sense. i hope the wings win the cup but i am still a die hard ranger fan

  5. Not a bad thing. just a fan of the sport. which is great. the rangers may be your favorite team, but you are allowed to enjoy the game no matter who is playing. however if you are watching malkin in this series and think he is good you should have seen him in the regular season he was great.

he has performed poorly thus far. try watching datsyuk for detroit.

  6. It means you're a true hockey fan. That makes you better than just a true Rangers fan. You can be both, and you'll be a better person for it, too.

  7. It just means you are a true fan of the game!  Nothing and no one is bigger then the game as a whole.

  8. nah, that's normal. Most fans like more then one team. I love the Wild, but have always been a Penguins fan as well. They were who I followed during the dark ages when Minnesota didn't have a team! I'll still rout for the Wild over them every time. Also as a hockey fan, you can appreciate a good series as this one is starting to look like. The Pens came out firing and I hope it goes 7 just so I can watch some more great hockey before the summer!

  9. Your friend should take a long look at himself before he tells anyone anything. I always say that if you think you are a fan, then you are a fan. It doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks.

  10. It sounds to me like you are a through and through hockey fan and just love the game. Your friend is probably mad that the Pens took out the Rangers and that you are still watching the games. I always watch the Cup finals no matter who is playing. I always find myself rooting for one team or the other depending on who is playing. Last year for example i was really rooting for the Ducks because i wanted them to destroy the Senators because they destroyed my Pens in rd.1

There is nothing wrong with rooting for one of the teams but quite honestly I am surprised you are rooting for the Pens. That would be like me rooting for Philly and that would NEVER happen. Maybe you should come over to the dark side and become a pens fan lol....I think you would much rather enjoy watching a ton of young talent game in and game out as opposes to a bunch of old and soon to be retiring legends. We here in the 'Burgh call the Rangers the Strangers because h**l you guys have like 1/4 of our old roster lol...

    LETS GO PENS

To the Devils fan you should get DirecTv and get the NHL package and that way you can watch every single Devils game. It's not really that expensive and it would be like having season tix to the Devils. Even though I am a die hard Pens fan when the Devils are this far into the Playoffs and the Pens are sditting at home I always root for Brodeur. He is my favorite goalie of all time

  11. Maybe, just maybe it means your a HOCKEY fan.  I'm a huge Red Wings fan, but I watched every playoff game I could this year, because playoff hockey is FUN to watch.

  12. The NHL could use more fans like you, who will watch hockey regardless of who's playing. Was just reading in the WSJ the other day that unlike a lot of other pro sports fans, hockey fans tend to stop watching if their favorite team is not playing. That's not conducive to high ratings, which in turn does not lead to good TV contracts. Which is why we're all stuck with VS.

  13. Your friend is wrong. As a devils fan myself, living in minnesota, i dont get many opportunities to watch my team play. I have been a devils fan for many many years, and they will always be my team. But again living in minnesota i dont get opportunities to watch much. I do however, watch every minnesota wild game that is broadcast on television. I also cheer on my home team, just because i know them well, i watch all their games and i get to know all of the players. I enjoy how they play on the ice, and enjoy their off-ice personalities as well. However that does not take away from that fact that come crunch time, i hope the devils wash the wild away every time. Just because you enjoy other teams playing and other players, does not make you a bad fan. You are a fan of hockey, just like all of us, and that makes you a great fan regardless. If it were not for fans like us, hockey would not be around any longer. so thank you for being a fan of hockey. As for you being my complete rival as a rangers fan, thats ok...you enjoy hockey and your ok in my book. I hope this helps you feel better!

  14. Speaking as a Rangers fan myself, It's ok to enjoy watching skilled players from other teams play. You can pull for them to win the cup (same division loyalty) but once the Rangers suit back up, you've gotta drop the Pens. Theres nothing wrong with enjoying the games, I've been watching (although I'm trying to figure out how both teams could lose...) your friend seems to be just a typical NY fan (sadly) who roots blindly, knows little but speaks loudly. It's taken me years to establish that other NY fans exist, welcome to the cause.
