im from out of state(new england), i am about to start my junior year, freshman year i had a 3.2 gpa, and sophmore i had a 3.4. i don't do any extracurriculars, if i do just average on my sat's do you think i could get into hawaii.

also do you think i have a chance at any scholarships or financial aid, hawaii is too expensive for me, but i am sure it's where i want to be.

thanks for any input

  1. You should be okay if you do decent (or better than decent) on your SAT/ACT.

Any extracurriculars will certainly help you out in the selection process.

As for financial aid, since you'll be paying out of state tuition, you're going to have to dig hard for enough financial aid to cover your books, your meal plan, housing, and tuition.  Boosting your GPA will certainly give you more opportunities for free money.

    Good luck.........

  2. Your GPA is more than sufficient to get into UH for general studies.  It really will depend on the program that you want to get into.  If you're trying to get into Medical School or the School of Architecture, then it's highly unlikely.  Business school is almost automatic, but it won't do you any good to land a job on the island with that degree.

Financial aid is always available if you qualify.  Scholarships are up to your efforts.
