When I was younger I had a cyst growing on my fallopian tube. They had to remove 1 of my tubes and the cyst when the doctor had finished the op he told me I still had 2 ovaries however I had a c-section and my gynaecologist could only find 1 ovary now I assume I only have 1 tube as well as 1 ovary know I can get preg cuz I have a daughter but am wondering does this mean I can only get preg 1 out of 2 months? Someone told me this but the dr didn’t mention it...Thanks

  1. I had surgery 6 years ago and my left ovary was removed.  Someone told me the same thing and I asked my gyne.  He said that was not true.  He told me as long as I have a period every month, then that means I'm ovulating every month.  When you have 2 ovaries, they may alternate each month; but when one is gone, the other just takes over for both.  BTW my periods have been like clockwork since--every 28-29 days.

  2. I have not heard of half the chance you might find some helpful advice adn new friends at www.bumpsandbeyond.friendhood.net there is a whole TTC section

  3. No it doesn't mean you have half the chance.  Despite some myths, your ovaries do not take turns producing an egg every other month.  It's random.  It might take you longer to get pregnant with only one working ovary, but you don't have to worry about only ovulating every other month.

    Good luck!

  4. I guess it would be best to ask a Doctor...

About 4 years I was having really bad cramping every other period and I got tested for endometriosis (sp) and all was clear so the checked my ovaries and it all seemed to be well in that area too. My Doctor explained that ovaries do take turns each cycle in producing eggs during the ovulation period so she said it may very well be that one of my ovaries was causing this intense pain. She put me on birth control pills to regulate my periods and I was on it for about 4 months, came off of it and all is well now, I don't complaint about menstrual pain anymore...well, nothing out of the ordinary like I used too.

I do think that ovaries take turns each cycle just because I heard it from a Doctor. I don't think that you have any less chances of getting pregnant... My best friend only has one ovary after a cyst and she just had a beautiful baby girl. I still recommend you talk to your doctor.

I wish you the of luck!
