I have PCOS and I had my period last July 22-26...My ob game me Clomid for 5 days and instructed us to have contact on the 29th, 31st,aug2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th...

She also gave me Metformin to be taken in progressive manner...once a day in the first week, 2x a day in the 2nd week, then 3x a day in the succesive weeks...

Today is August 20 and i've been feeling a bit dizzy this week, around 9am and at night around 8pm and had abdominal cramps...could it be a side effect of met?

Just right now, i have breast tenderness, I am confused bec, i really feel dizzy all the time...

Is it possible i am pregnant or is this just a side effect of met?

Thanks

  1. hey

The abdominal cramps may be due to the metformin, but it is unlikely to cause the breast tenderness and dizzy spells.  The main side effect of metformin in diarrhoea, which should resolve aftar the first few days.  As for the breast tenderness, it may be due to the imbalance of your normal hormones, which is due to your polycystic ovaries.  But, just to be sure, you may want to take a pregnancy test.  If the symptoms trouble you a lot, check with your doctor again.

  2. when I was on met, I had the cramping (along with nausea an diarrhea), so I'd be inclined to think that's due to the met.

the others though I didn't have and I haven't heard of anyone else having them.  since your last period was the 22nd, you can test just about any time now.  try one from the dollar store.  I just got a box and noticed on the back their sensitivity is 25 miu.  :D

  3. take pregnancy test.. i have PCOS too dont be confused and think it a lot because PCOS Women have a high risk of miscarriage if they are so much stressed. stay calm and relax
