i havent done swimming in a while, and a lot of people say that you need to have been swimming for about a week for you to get used to swimming that hard......im kinda nervous cuz its my first time on a swim team.

i know all the strokes...but im not used to it yet...its like running a marathon after sitting around watching tv...

is swim practice tough? for those of you already on a team..

  1. sort of, everytime your swimmign weather be of a team or individual you need to find a pace, going fast doesnt mean your getting faster it just means you have rush of energy, focus on your breathing and your pace,

for practise(individualy) id go at a normal speed and just do alot of laps, becasue my pool is only 13m i usually get like 30-40 laps in 26m a lap. i dunno about your coach but usally there be like 10 legnths this 10 lengths that and so fourth so just keep a steady pace and dont worry about whose in front of you or behind you just get it done.

  2. you should be alright swimming after not going for a while.

    but swim teams are tough.

i train 3 times a week and have done for 3 years. They are tiring but after a couple of months you should get used to it.

  3. don't worry .... you'll be fine! On my swim team, the first week is used to get everyone back in shape, and tends to be less rigorous than usually - take the first week slow and build on it from there. Good Luck =)

  4. anything it going to be hard at first but you will do fine. the hardest thing i think is the breathing when you first start trying to swim again consistently. make sure you don't eat a heavy meal before you swim..good ole Gatorade is good during swimming sipping .. some fruit is good but remember you cant run on no fuel. I'm sure you will be fine and I'm sure you wont be the only one that has not been practicing. good luck :) feel free to contact me if you need any other advice..
