Am i still eligible for an italian citizenship?

I found out that if your father was natrulized in the usa (but was born in italy) before your birth then his citizenship cant be passed onto you. that is the situation i'm in. What does it mean, and can i still becom an italian citizen? please answer Thanks:)

  1. As far as I know, no. Only if your father renounced his citizenship AFTER (become a US Citizenship after) you were born, you would qualify. Sadly, American Citizenship requires that you give up any previous citizenship.

    I'm not an expert. I have only researched this for a few hours. Ask your embassy.


  2. Well, you can, but it's less easier; in fact, if your father never gave up his Italian citizenship you were considered as born as Italian citizen.

    Since your father was Italian, anyway, is still easier than when not having any tie with Italy at all.

    For instance, you can apply for Italian citizenship after three years you legally live in Italy, instead of ten.
