Am i still protected if i turn off all my antivirus/antispyware and firewall etc?

i was wondering- most antivirus boast about all these resident shields, anti spyware, link scanners, real time internet protection, but does these features all can protect me when i turned the antivirus off?

  1. Your question doesn't quite make sense. Are you asking if your programs will still work even when you've turned them off? Programs have to be running if you want them to do anything. Your home alarm system won't protect you from intruders if you don't activate it, your smoke alarms won't work without batteries, your car won't go if the engine hasn't started, and your antivirus won't anti-virus if it's not running.

    When you turn off your antivirus/antispyware and firewall you are susceptible to viruses, spyware, and worms. And it won't scan your computer.


  2. It depends on your specific configuration.

    I use file permissions and group policy rather than software to protect myself. My XP box is immune to malware. It also runs faster.

    If you are asking this sort of question, no you will not be protected.
