Question:

Am i stretching my ears to fast?

i got my ears pierced on 7/7/2008 and i've started stretching them and i'm already at a size 10g, my ears don't hurt at all, or bleed. Is this too fast?

  1. You should have allowed your ears ample time (i.e. 2-3 months) to heal from the piercings before you began stretching.  10g is not that large unless your ears are incredibly resistant to a stretch (though it seems yours are fine).  At this point, you should be giving your ears at least 3 weeks in between stretches, and after 8g, you should wait at least 4-5 weeks between stretches.  Though your ear may not bleed, there are micro-tears that happen when you stretch it.  If these do not heal properly, you may not be able to down-size in the future.  Additionally, if you move up sizes to fast, you are at risk for a blowout which can be painful, and will stop the stretching process dead in its tracks.


  2. Just realize what you are doing to your body simply because its the in thing to do at the moment.  You're going to be an old person with stretched ear lobes, and no one at the senior center is going to be impressed.
