Am i suppose to tip at Sonic Restaurant? ?

We just got one built here-ive ate at it twice. Didnt know if it was appropriate to tip there or not.

For those who dont know or havent ate there-its a fast food place. Kind of a 50s style restaurant where you pull into a parking space-give your order over a speaker. The girls come out on rollerskates with your food and you pay them without even having to get out of your car.

They dont have a inside area. They do have a outside area with tables covered with umbrellas. This is where i was sitting at. Im not certain if it is appropriate to tip at this place or not. I started to leave one but being outside i was worried if i left a tip there it would just blow away.

If someone comes out to you and drops off an order then Yes, you should give them a little something.  Just putting it in their hand when you see them eliminates wind resistance.

next time you go get your tip ready for the girl so when she brings your food you  are ready to tip her

what i try to do is get my money ready in the ball park of what i know i'm going to spend. so if we're all in the car, this is what usually happens: we order, and figure it'll cost maybe...15 dollars.  So I get 17 or so out.  They come to the window and it might be "15.37" so I just give them the money and say don't worry about change.

I'm a really good tipper at....well, actual restraunts.  Sonic's isn't exactly the cheesecake factory, so I wouldn't feel guilty leaving little to no-tip.

I think you should tip them even if it is not a whole lot.  They have to come out on rollar skates carrying trays, that is hard to do.

i think its rather obnoxious to tip someone... especially at sonic with the roller blades...  the poor girl will have trouble getting back up.. you are a mean person

A sonic restaurant is somewhat different from a regular fast food. My rule is that I would tip them 15% if they didn't come out on roller skates, and 25% if they did. Think about this....have you ever tried carrying food on roller skates? It's much harder then it looks!

I worked at Sonic as a carhop in high school.

Some people tip, some don't.

I never tip when I go there and didn't expect tips when I worked there.

So, if you want to tip, tip. If you don't, no worries.
