  1. We used some life pacs when we first started homeschooling. My kids didn't love it, so we use different curriculum now. You didn't say what grader you are in but there are lots of different curriculum out there.

I don't have experience with dyslexia but I'm sure there are many homeschoolers that do. I would go to one of the online homeschool forums and post your question there. You might find more moms with that kind of experience.

We have used sequential spelling-it's great for dyslexia. And you might want to take a look at the Irlen Site http://irlen.com/index.php?id=113

We had my son evaluated and it costs about $100 for that service from a trained Irlen consultant

My son's reading improved by using color overlays-I wonder if that might help you and then you could use Sonlight-much more fun than lifepacs.

    Best of Luck to You!

  2. I have twin boys and we used Life Pacs for 1st grade. My boys didn't;t like them at all.. it was very boring and they would get so upset when it was time to do their work.

I went out and put my own curriculum together... It is working a lot better and A LOT less expensive.

  3. My son is dyslexic as well, we tried LifePacs a few years back, and he hated them - he was bored silly.  Now, we use:

TRISMS - allows you to research using whatever resources you want (History, Geography, Humanities) - the author is dyslexic as well http://trisms.com/

Apologia - science that comes with the entire book on MP3 as well as CDRom supplements and lots of great experiments and projects http://apologia.com/store/?PHPSESSID=074...

VideoText Algebra (also has geometry) - DVD curriculum that brings you from Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus in clear, well-taught lessons (2-3 year programs for both Algebra and Geometry) http://videotext.com/homeschool.htm

IEW - Writing program that works extremely well for a lot of different people, especially dyslexic students (integrated with TRISMS) http://www.excellenceinwriting.com/Index...

We also use http://www.cosmeo.com/ a lot - it has videos, games, animations, and links to just about everything.

LifePac is actually one of the few curriculums I would never recommend - it's not terribly thought provoking and it's really rather dry.  All of the above will be an initial investment, but that one investment will take you all the way through high school.
