The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that many of Palin's local colleagues, even Republican, were rather stunned by her being chosen as McCain's vice president.

State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?" said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

Second...Do you have ANY idea how Palin shook up the high-ranking, long-time REPUBLICANS in Alaska?...She ousted 6 of them...She said she was going to 'clean house' and get rid of the corruption, that's exactly what she did and so there are MANY Republicans in Alaska who aren't exactly happy with her

As for the rest...Don't be so shallow and conceited as to think that McCain was trying to please the liberals...Palin is for US, the Republicans...If he was trying to please YOU, she would be the complete opposite of who she is (like Hillary)...Do you really think it would be difficult for us to find a woman who is for abortion, affirmative action and handing out more welfare?...Come on

No, in the end McCain would not have gotten Hilary's voters because he is anti abortion, something that is not commonly known.  Now he chose Pelin who is anti abortion to an extreme.  That is not going to sit well with many women.

What I think could be happening, and I take this observation with a grain of salt, but it is something to consider, is the GOP is h**l bent on self destruction so it can have a legitimate reason to kick the extremists out.

I simply have trouble believing that McCain would select such a divider as his running mate.  It simply does not make sense.

if you are getting your news from the Huffington Post, you might as well be getting it from Spongebob Squarepants himself. The Huffington Post is not only slanted but has a reputation of printing articles that are not even true. Be that as it may.

Secondly, McCain had a long enough time to decide who he wants for his VP. He didn't just pick Palin out of thin air. If you look at her credentials, she is well qualified to be his VP. Without going into all the disqualifications of Obama, it seems like a lot of Obama libs are upset that a vibrant, attractive, intelligent woman was picked as McCain's running mate. and why is that so? Because they know Obama should have chosen Hiliary as his running mate and now is losing a ton of Hiliary votes because of it. Palin will attract the female voters who have been previously undecided (assuming women will tend to vote for a woman, especially in an historic voting cycle such as this) And it's reasonable to assume that since it appears blacks are voting heavily in favor of a black man. When all is said and done, most normal people know McCain (while not ideal) is much better suited for the job than Obama. Obama lacks experience, wants tax hikes for the middle class, wants to increase government intrusion into our lives. He's a communist baby killer.

McCain/Palin, both are for smaller government, tax cuts for the middle class, cut out pork barrel spending, against special interests, all of which Obama is for. Obama is a slick lawyer, befriends terrorists and was not even able to stand up to the empty show of force by the Clintons to include them in the convention. How is he going to stand up to hardball situations coming from Muslims when he is born of one himself, of communist Russia and China when he totally believes in communism.  Wake up already and stop whinning that McCain picked a woman as his VP. Even militant womens groups should be happy that a female is added into this historic voting season. Or is it because you people are hypocrites and only want a woman if the woman is liberal, only want a black if the black is liberal. You guys follow the party line and the wishes of the mainstream media, it's laughable. And sad

  Once again, there's the allegation McCain did this to get the female vote. Prove it.  Problem is you "can't" anymore than I can prove beyond circumstantial evidence that Obama has Islamic sympathies, has no valid birth certificate, is a closet Muslim and socialist and has racist feelings.  At least I have more substance to my allegations than you Obamabots.

  And by the way....try reading some other news source than the fish wrap Huffington Post.  There are numerous "women", even some Hillary supporters, who LOVE McCains choice and HAVE switched their votes.  Guess they see the FIRST female POTUS in 2012.

For general information these Polls from Alaska that show a 80-90% approval rating are not very telling! When the paper runs a Sunday morning paper poll they generally are not very accurate! Check it out!
