Am i the right size for my mare?

Question

lol....we seem ok together im just curious to see if i am too tall for my mare...i dont want to hurt her

i am about 5"9 and still growing....but i hope i odntgrow much more i hate it! im about 56kg

she is a 15.2hh standardbred and a strong, placid girl.

am i too big for her?? :(

I have the same issue, I am 5'7 and my horse is 15.2 hands. I think we look good together and I think you would look fine, because you have a bigger/broader horse.

your the right hieght. some fat guys use the same horse size as you and are fine.

It depends on what riding discipline you are doing. For Hunters you are too big because they judge you on how the 2 of you look as a team. For pleasure riding, you're fine. No one cares how you look, and a horse can carry a lot of height and weight and do their job fine.

that's not at all to big. how many pounds is 56 kg? Standardbreds are really strong and I've seen my riding instructor (5' 7') get on her daughtor's horse (14.3hh) maybe for about 20 mins to teach her something. I wouldn't worry about it unless she seems like she's having trouble carring you or something.... but to get back to the point no that's not at all to big.

No not at all.I have a peruvian paso thats 14.1 hds & im 5'7 there all small but a ride to die for.I wondered the same thing went to a show & most of the men that were riding them were 6 ft.or close to it.Enjoy your horse I sure am.

Yea, that sounds fine. My sister is 5'9" and rides a 15.1hh Thoroughbred gelding. As logn as you move together and perform well then you should be fine. Just yesterday I saw a woman who was about 5'9" riding what had to be a 14.3hh horse, and she was fine on him

So long as he rounded enough, you'll look great together.

Have you thought of a dressage carrier - get yourself a lovely warmblood, all the gorgeous girls that ride dressage have lovely long legs!
