Am i to old (or otherthings) to Dance?

Question

well im 16. i have no experience at all. im fat. i want to do hip hop. i think. i just wanna dance. i dont know what exactley.

but tell me (be honest)

what the h**l would you think if you were in hip hop for ever and you see some overwieght fat chick walk into your class slowing everyone down.

how would you feel. what would you think?

If I was you I would not care what other people think. If you want to dance, then dance don't let other peoples opinions effect your decision. If people make rude remarks let them. That just shows that they are jerks. Anyways your trying to better yourself by excersizing, so why do they care. AS for the no experience thing ask the teacher if you can come earlier than scheulded practice and get the tough moves solid. Hope this helps.:]

I know a girl whose overweight and she's an AMAZING. She's gives it her all and doesn't hold back. She's gotten a lot of recognition for dancing so great. She's also more flexible than I could ever hope to be lol

First of all, Im overweight I take ballet, tap, and jazz and will be taking pointe soon. Im very good. If you love it and have a passion for it do it. I thought the same as you did, but hat doesnt matter. Oh and have you seen americas best dance crew? There are some girls on there who are overweight, and they kick butt.

Also, you may not get the routine as fast as the other girl and boys, because of no expirence, but just keep practicing and practicing.

well alot of older girls get into hip hop and alot of studios have beginner teen hiphop were everyone would be the same level as you. If you want to do it than ignore what everyone else says!

i wouldn't worry about being overweight...but having no experience might be a problem if you want to be in a higher level hip hop class. You could start off in a beginning level one..there usually always is a beginning level for hip hop..or you could get a few private lessons before you start the class so you no what to expect. but if you want to dance...DANCE!! don't worry about your weight or if you have experience, or if girls are rude to you...it doesn't matter..cause if your having fun and showing your personal style, and not giving the girls that are mean a second glance....they will realize that your not effected by their 5 year old pettiness..and they will stop....

just have fun and do what you want to do!!

Find a dance studio that will let you try out different classes before you sign up and try all of them! If you seem interested and dedicated to learning, the other people in the class wont mind if you ask questions!

Not at all! I started dancing when I was 13, and I was just about the least flexible person in the class. I thought that would be a huge impediment, but as it turned out, it wasn't at all. Being fat is no impediment either, believe me—there was an overweight girl in my class who could pull off some of the most amazing spins!

The only people who slow the class down are the ones who have no enthusiasm and don't want to dance, and the ones who expect everybody else to cater to them.

Of course, if you intend to perform right off the bat, you'll have bigger problems than I did, since you'll have to try and make it look really good really quickly. Still, I'm sure that any problems'll be perfectly possible to overcome, and as long as you have fun dancing, go for it! If you want to minimize the difficulty, find a class specifically for beginners.

Oh, and if anyone tries to put you down for being a beginner or overweight, don't listen to them whatever you do.

I'd think, "Mama, flaunt it, even if you dont know what you got". The heart your showing us you have for it is half the battle, and as an added bonus, the exercise is good for you! Do your thing!
