  1. you could try

im a girl and 5'7 and i know that my long legs help me, but even if you arent tall you could still do it

a lot of the people on my team that are short are the best sprinters, so dont worry =)

  2. Of course you can do it. You are not too short. As long as you believe in yourself enough, you can make it happen. I wouldn't worry about what others think of you. Even if you are the shortest on the team you can prove your worthiness by not giving up, nor giving in. Remember it's how you feel about your abilities, not by what others think of you. Doing a mile in 7 min 30 sec is pretty good in my opinion.

  3. you're not too short to do anything :]

  4. No!  Do it!  You shouldn't care what anyone else thinks!  If you want to do it, then do it!  There is no height or weight restrictions to track.  Also, if you don't want to run, maybe consider shot putt or discus.  Don't let anyone hold you back!  Be positive!  Talk with confidence!  Get pumped up!  Go get involved with track and have fun with it!

  5. You aren't too short!! There is never a specific height to run. Plus, it doesn't matter how tall you are, as long as you are trying your best and having fun doing it. I'm 5' and I run the 5k in cross country and I run just fine, so height does NOT matter. Just run!! It doesn't matter what others think, as long as you want to do track, then go for it.

  6. All day everyday!!! you are NOT too short and since you are only 16, you are still growing, so get that out of your mind cause the truth is, You can probably be the BEST in your whole school if you just give it your all.

  7. It all matters what events you are going to do. For example if you are going to do the 400m sprint or below you will probably have a tough time because of the tall kids that can out stride you, but if you have really quick feet and good acceleration then you might be able to do the 100m. Also if you want to do the mile you will have to drastically improve your time to around five minutes if you want to place in any meets. If none of that really suits you, try other events like Javelin or long jump.

  8. I was in almost the same situation as you were last year my mile tim in 10th grade was 8min 30sec I didn't do any extra work before track joined the hurdles team because im horrible at long distance and did about average i guess for joining my junior year. as long as you dont miss any practices and go through all the conditioning in the beginning to get in shape youll be fine if you really work at it. in gym class after track that year my mile time was down to 6min 30 sec. also im only 5' 10

  9. You're not too short.  I'm in college and I know a really good track guy that's about your height.  Just keep practicing and I'm sure you'll do fine.

  10. You can do anything you want partner. Though taller runners have the advantage of longer legs, if you train hard, you will surpass them.

Don't run in the gym. Run in the outdoors and train on improving your muscle response time. Run sprints. Use a weightvest if you have one.

Remember one thing, YOU CAN DO IT!
