I'm looking to buy my first motorcycle and i'm looking at a Shadow VLX 600.

I'm 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. Do you think the bike will fit me or would i need a bigger bike?

  1. I am right at your size and i ride a Yamaha 650 V Star and it gets me around great, around town and blasts down the interstate just fine at well over the speed limit.. A lot of people get hung up on engine sizes without realy stopping to consider or experience what the smaller cc bike will actually do. A 600 cc bike is a lot more capable than a lot of people are willing to admit.

  2. maybe you should look into getting a goldwing instead

  3. This is a great bike but you will eventually trade up out of it. If you are careful you could start with a 750 Shadow with shaft drive. It will be a while before you move up from that. Either way you will be fine.

  4. You are fine. Go sit on one and see if you find the bike comfortable. The bike is more than enough for you.

  5. 600 cc's?  No problem.  Especially for a first bike.  That is plenty big for you if you are comfortable sitting on it.  I am 6'2", 87 kg, and I have a 50cc scooter that I ride all over town where I live in South Korea.  I get about 67 miles to the gallon.  It's great!  Also, I used to have a Honda Rebel 250 in the U.S.  I got tired of the 250 real quick, mainly because the size was a little too small and I couldn't take it on the interstate very well.

  6. Walk into a Honda dealership and sit on one.

    There's no charge.

  7. No it's a great all around bike
