  1. I think that by 13 the decision is yours and your parents'. I don't know the specific airline you're flying on, but I flew alone once I was 13 here in the states w/o any assistance. All the hostess would do is to wait with you at customs (and probably get you to the front of the line, that's what happened when I went to Israel) and make sure you're picked up at JFK and check on you throughout the flight to make sure you're OK. I flew internationally to Israel when I was 11 as an unaccompanied minor and they moved me to 1st class for the last 30 min. of the flight so they could keep track of me. That was actually kinda nice... At JFK the baggage claim is after the greeting area so the hostess would probably not help you with that, whoever is picking you up would. You'll have to call your airline and ask specifically, but I'd think by 15 you can do it on your own. Unless you dont want to that is :-)

  2. From their website:

Aer Lingus will continue to accept passengers aged 12-15 years inclusive but will not provide special assistance for these passengers.

  3. you can ask for one but they will not assign one automatically. they will accept you though. you can visit there websites to get the official rules and guidlines.
