Question:

Am i too short for tenor saxophone?

at my school we have to do a march and i think we have to march for a long time will it be hard for me to play tenor saxophone and march because i am only 4 feet 7 inches?

  1. No, just make sure you get a decent neck strap - a lot of tenor players I know use Neotech straps.  I'm five foot two and can easily cope with a bari sax which is a lot bigger and heavier than a tenor.

  3. no, you are not too short.

    if you can hold it, then you will be able to do it for an hour or more by building up a bit of muscle over time...

    ex. i've seen reallyyyyy short/small kids carry trombones.... quads.... baritones...

    if there is an actual issue your band directer should notice, and if not bring it to their attention.

  4. You should be fine. You could possibly even do a bari. They have body harnesses that will keep the thing off the ground and keep you from having to hold it up with your neck and hands.
