She is on med eye drops, her regence ins. costs her $116. and yet she has to pay $110 for the drops. She has about the lowest ss u can get due to being born in the year 1921. Not sure why that is that she gets less then other years born. I get very confused trying to understand SS rules and insurance stuff and the senior advisors didnt help either.

  1. It's possible to get into an HMO when you're older and getting SS. It covers a certain amount of prescription medicine and is generally much better than straight medicaid. One is called Secure Horizons. If you aren't in the States, I don't know.

  2. check out wal-mart they have low prescription rates.

  3. She should enroll in the new Medicare prescription insurance (Part D).

  4. The most cost efficient choice for your mom would probably be a healthcare savings plan such as ASI.  The ASI premier plan gives you up to 60% off discounts on everything medical, dental, prescription, optical, chiropractic, accident and even comes with a prepaid cell phone with 250 minutes.  This plan costs only $52 a month and covers two people.  In the long run she would be paying less out of pocket expenses.  Here is the contact information:

    ASI Healthcare (800)929-8244

If they ask for a referral # give them 243665.

I hope this helps!  Good luck!
