Am replacing rear brake pads but can not get the assembly unit to lft to remove pads what am I doing wrong?

  1. There is a pin on the bottom of the caliper that has to be pulled out... In most cases that pin is in the form of a bolt with a really long shank... email me if you have any further questions...

    are they drum brakes or disc brakes?

  3. check and make sure that the pads aren't eaten in to the rotors on it ,if they did just a little they wont come off,you,ll have to loosen a bleeder s***w and separate them from the rotor by using  a s***w driver to pry them apart with,and also make sure the guide pins are out,and also make sure the e-brake isnt on any at all,that will stop them from letting go,good luck.

  4. is it because of the handbrake cable?  take out both caliper bolts and lever it up with a screwdriver.  if the disc is held on with  screws or bolts sometimes it helps to undo them so you can angle it to relieve tension from the handbrake cable.---   oh,    have you released the handbrake???
