  1. Go to Options -> Preferences

Under the 'Bandwidth' section change the following:

Maximum Upload Rate: 0 (sets it to unlimited)

Maximum Download Rate: 0 (sets it to unlimited)

    Maximum Global Connections: 800000

Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 112500

Maximum number of upload slots: 125000

Under the 'Queuing' section change the following:

Maximum number of active torrent upload/download: 150000

Maximum number of active downloads: 150000

Also a good way to increase your bandwidth (only works on some computers) is to do this:

    1) Go to your network connections

    2) Click on your LAN slot and click on 'properties'

    3) Click on 'configure'

    4) Click on the 'advanced' tab

    5) Look for Speed/Duplex (some network cards don't offer this option if this is the case you can't do this)

    6) Change value to 100MB Full Duplex, if you can't connect afterwards try 100MB Half Duplex, if that doesn't work 10MB Full Duplex, if that doesn't work then just keep it on auto

  2. I always set it to 1000 and my downloads are quick, just depends on ur seeds but u should set the speed to 1000

  3. I would suggest updating to version 1.8 as there is a "highly critical" security flaw in 1.7 (and earlier) versions that was patched in 1.8.

Optimal settings depend on the actual line speed that you have.  This article on optimizing download speed in uTorrent has all the info you need (it is based on 1.8):
