Romain Amalfitano has admitted that he is looking forward to playing for Newcastle United, as he looks to make an impact on the team right away.
Newcastle United have come a long way since they ended up being relegated three seasons ago. Having won the Coca Cola Championship in 2009, they secured a place back in the English top flight and haven’t looked back ever since. Under the supervision of Alan
Pardew, the club has had an impressive season in the Premier League. With lots of new players coming in, Newcastle are becoming strong contenders for a top four finish next season.
The recent ‘French’ revolution at Tyneside has been regarded by many as the reason behind Newcastle’s recent exploits. With the likes of Frenchmen http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Obertan-c14324 already present and flourishing at the club,
new signing Romain Amalfitano is the newest French player to join the Magpies.
The midfielder officially became a Magpie on Sunday after his contract expired with Ligue 2 winning side Stade de Reims. He admitted that the French influence was a major factor in his decision to pen down a deal with the Magpies.
Speaking to the club website, Amalfitano said; "The number of French players here already played a part for me in my decision"
"It is a great reassurance to know there is a group of French players and French-speaking players here."
"I don't know any of the players here, but am looking forward to getting to know them."
"My main aim this season is to progress and advance in football, which is why a club like Newcastle is perfect for me. That is what I will concentrate on here."
Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa were instrumental in Newcastle’s 2011/2012 campaign, and the latest Frenchman to arrive at Tyneside is relishing the opportunity to link up with his compatriots, despite never having met them before.
Amalfitano is a versatile attacking midfielder, who can practically play anywhere in midfield; on the left, right and through the centre. But his greatest strength lies in playing right in the ‘hole’, behind the striker and wingers from where he can pick
out passes. His arrival offers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew a handful of midfield options and gives Newcastle added depth as the Tyneside club prepares for the next season.
