Newcastle United’s recently signed midfielder Romain Amalfitano mentioned that he plans on making a mark at the Sports Direct Arena, and expressed his excitement on the prospect of being a part of a European competition for the first time in his
career.
The 22-year old signed a deal with the Tyneside club earlier in the month to join the Magpies from the 1st of July, i.e. the starting date of the summer transfer window, on a three year contract. He completed his two year term with Ligue 1 outfit
Reims, before penning his commitment with the Toon.
The Frenchman, who joined Reims at a time when they were tottering in Ligue 2, netted 10 goals for the club in his 68 caps and helped them win promotion back to the top division by securing the second position in the 2011/12 Ligue 2 campaign.
Nevertheless Amalfitano revealed that he was in the right frame of mind to assume his role at Newcastle, and felt that he already possessed the winning mentality after undergoing a successful stint with his former employers.
While talking to reporters, he said: “Newcastle have already shown last season in their performances without me that they've also got that kind of mentality.”
“So I'm hoping to learn and get involved as much as possible with that.”
