I have an Amana side by side that has trouble cooling. Last weekend it quit cooling, and the ice was melting on the freezer side and the refrigerator side was warm. I opened the evaporator access panel and there was some frost on the coils. I defrosted these with a hair dryer, cycled the timer manually, and cleaned the coils underneath. Both fans work, and the compressor was warm but not hot. It came back on, and the temp in the freezer dropped to about 0 deg F. It ran pretty much continuously for several days, but I've started having the same problem again.I replaced the timer today, but tonight it is doing it again. I pulled the evaporator panel off again, and again there was some frost buildup, but not what I would think is a lot.When I cycle the defrost timer manually, the heating element is coming on.Any ideas? Defrost thermostat maybe?
