Amanda Beard occupies Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona
Amanda Beard of Ford Aquatics-AZ occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 30-year-old Beard demonstrated her noteworthy efforts in the distant breaststroke event as she cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her astounding efforts, she enjoyed a comfortable lead over her challengers throughout the four-lap discipline and tapped the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 35.90 seconds for gold medal.
The gold medallist was chased by her team-member, Sara J Borendame, who was 2.31 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 38.21 seconds.
Borendame was trailed by Eve B Sarris of Arizona-AZ, who was considerably slower from her former finisher and emerged on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 43.58 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Jordan M Ehly of LCAT-NM, who stayed almost 1.50 seconds slower and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 45.09 seconds.
Ehly faced tough competition from her following swimmer, Ellyn C Baumgardner of CUBU-PV, who stayed just 0.12 seconds slower and ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 45.21 seconds for fifth position.
The 21-year-old Baumgardner was trailed by Annie C Chandler of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who was only 0.05 seconds behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 45.26 seconds.
Chandler remained almost 2.40 seconds ahead of Ellinore Duncan of DTAC-AZ, who proved her eligibility for seventh best spot of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 48.74 seconds.
Subsequently, Duncan remained almost one body length ahead of Erica Kaplan of Gmsc-AZ, who failed to overpower any of her competitors in the final round and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 49.49 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders were called upon the victory stand for their ruthless efforts after the completion of session.
