Amanda Beard occupies Women’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day four – 2012 Arizona Invitational
Amanda Beard of FORD-AZ occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on last day of the 2012 Arizona Invitational in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, May 28.
The 30-year-old Beard dictated terms to her challengers throughout the 200m discipline and paved her way to the finishing end for gold medal. With her impeccable pace, she destroyed hopes of her supporters and emerged on the finishing end for first position.
Beard continued her smothering efforts in the four-lap breaststroke event and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 27.33 seconds for the crown of the event.
She was chased by Eve B Sarris of Arizona-AZ, who stayed nearly eight seconds apart and reached the finishing wall for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 35.92 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Lindsey M Englestead of SAND-CA, who was nearly two body lengths slower and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 38.04 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Sara J Borendame of FORD-AZ, who was 1.23 seconds apart and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 39.27 seconds.
The 16-year-old Borendame remained nearly two seconds ahead of Elena Karpeeva of PSC-AZ, who secured fifth position of the discipline and posted a time of 2 minutes and 41.05 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the race was obtained by Catie A Miller of SAND-CA, who was 1.25 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 42.30 seconds.
Miller was followed by Jordan M Ehly of UNWIL-NM, who proved her eligibility for seventh position of the discipline by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 44.06 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Brianna R Francis of DRAT-UT, who was 0.15 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 44.21 seconds.
The spectators appreciated gruelling forms of all swimmers in the 200m event while the position holders received awards and accolades for their accomplishment after the session. Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all listed events.
