Amanda Chun clinches Girls 100yard breaststroke gold – High School State Championships
Amanda Chun of LOW clinched gold medal of the Girls 100yard breaststroke in the Junior category at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
Chun upset her competitors by snaring gold medal of the 100yard discipline in a ruthless manner, With her tremendous pace, she faced no trouble in proving her eligibility for gold medal of the discipline.
Her blistering start placed her comfortably ahead of her opponents in the start of the race while with her utter determination, she cruised her way towards the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 10.62 seconds.
Chun was chased by her teammate, Helen Tang, who stayed 6.14 seconds apart and touched the wall for silver by submitting a time of 1 minute and 16.76 seconds.
The third position of the event was secured by Alicia Tang, who stayed 0.06 seconds slower and finished her swim in third best place by submitting a time of 1 minute and 16.82 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Heidi Tang of LOW, who suffered a loss of almost 1.30 seconds from her foregoing finisher and hit the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 18.17 seconds.
After that, Dylan Westover of LOW proved his mettle for the title of Boys 100yard breaststroke. Westover stayed in a remarkable lead over his challengers throughout the 100yard event and clocked a time of 1 minute and 03.64 seconds for gold medal.
His notable effort remained nearly 2.50 seconds ahead of Brendan McKay, who stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 06.14 seconds.
He was followed by Marston Li, who was 1.01 seconds behind and transpired on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 07.15 seconds.
Li remained nearly 2.50 seconds faster from Kyung Lee of LOW, who concluded his race in fourth best place by posting a time of 1 minute and 09.68 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders received medals after the session.
