Amanda Fowler wins 50m breast-stroke title: Day three – 2011 Australian Age MC Championships

Amanda Fowler of Nepean Aquatic won gold medal of Girls 50m breast-stroke in 11 to 14 years old category on the final day of 2011 Australian Age Multi Class Championships. The session ended on Sunday, October 9, at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)
in Canberra.
Fowler, S14, demonstrated her skilful efforts in the breast-stroke discipline and snatched the title of the event in a comfortable manner. With her dominating efforts, Fowler smothered the efforts of her challengers as she gained a prominent lead over them
and made her way to the top of podium.
The 14-year-old Fowler proved her determination for her last event of the championship by overwhelming the efforts of her fellow swimmers. She clocked a wonderful time of 39.65 seconds for gold medal.
She was followed by Novocastrian’s Maddison Elliott, who picked up her ninth medal of the championship by posting an effort of 47.35 seconds. Elliott, S8, maintained a lead of 3.36 seconds over her following swimmer, Xiaoling Gribble of NSE Mingara, who
submitted a time of 50.71 seconds for bronze medal.
In the meantime, Oliver Cox of Warringah Aquatics proved his entitlement for the Boys equivalent event. Cox, who has the disability class of S9 and B8, touched the finishing wall in a top ranked time of 39.84 seconds for gold medal.
He was chased by Timot Disken of VIC PLC Aquatic as he reached the victory stand for silver medal by reporting a time of 38.44 seconds. Disken, who has S10 and B9 multi disability, remained almost ten seconds ahead of his subsequent swimmer, Logan Powell
of QLD Mackay, who completed his swim in an impressive time of 48.28 seconds for bronze medal of the event.
Fowler and Cox were contented with their gold claiming efforts in the breast-stroke swim, while the arena also appreciated the breathtaking swims of all MC disability swimmers. In addition, the championship ended after the completion of all swimming events
and the top finishers were called upon the medal rostrum for their invincible efforts after the session.
