Amanmuradova/ Panova score against Pervak/ Tsurenko in quarterfinal – Tashkent Open 2011
The two unseeded teams to contest in the quarterfinal of the Tashkent Open 2011 were; Ksenia Pervak with Lesia Tsurenko against Akgul Amanmuradova with Alexandra Panova. The two teams clashed with each other on the 15th
of September 2011 at the Olympic School Tennis Courts. After one hour and fifteen minutes Amanmuradova and Panova came out victorious by bouncing back from a set down.
Opting to serve first was the Russian / Ukrainian (Pervak/ Tsurenko) but as they smashed a backhand it went straight into the net and were broken in the first game by the Russian/ Uzbek (Amanmuradova/ Panova). However, they avenged
their loss by breaking back-to-back to equalize the score to 1-1 in the second game.
During the following two games the players again broke each other back-to-back and tied the score at 2-2. In the fifth and sixth game the two teams won on their alternate serves and balanced the scoreboard to 3-3.
Breaking each other back to back for the third time each the squads tied the score to 4-4 and then again at 5-5. As they went neck-on-neck in the first ten games the score was levelled and in the eleventh game Amanmuradova/ Panova
held serve to take a mini lead of 6-5.
Hoping to break their opponents in twelfth game they pressurized their adversaries and forced them to error which gave them a window of opportunity. By capitalizing on the break point the Russian and the Ukrainian won the eleventh
game and the set.
During the second set the two players won on their respective serves for the first four games to level the score at 2-2. Pervak/ Tsurenko were first to break in the sixth game and took a lead of 4-2 but the crowd cheered for their
home girl (Amanmuradova) and her team mate which boosted their performance in the following game and they broke their opponents back to back.
By the end of the eighth game the score had again tied at 4-4. During the ninth game Amanmuradova and Panova broke Pervak and Tsurenko for the last time to take a mini lead of 5-4.
At this point Pervak/ Tsurenko were a break down and could’ve pushed the set into a tie breaker, however, in the following three games the two teams held serve which resulted in Amanmuradova/ Panova winning the set.
The teams had now won a set each and serving for the super tie breaker was again Pervak/ Tsurenko. The two squads won on alternate serves for the first eighteen games to square off the score at 9-9. Amanmuradova/ Panova held serve
in the nineteenth game and by the twentieth as Pervak/ Tsurenko double faulted, the home girl and her Russian team mate were jumping up and down the court as they had bagged the super tie breaker and won the match.
Although, the home girl's success was short lived in the singles event, Amanmuradova and Panova had a great sync and were able to secure a berth in the semi final of the Tashkent Open 2011.
