Amanora Cup 2012: Abhishek Sadanand Kulkarni tames Amey Tilloo to claim Boy’s Singes U19 crown
India’s budding player Abhishek Sadanand Kulkarni stole the limelight by playing with impressive precision and claimed Boy’s Singles U19 title after taming Amey Tilloo in the final battle at Amanora Cup 2012, which ended up in Pune, on Sunday, December 30.
The impressive Kulkarni, who was positioned at number six in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship, put up remarkable show and managed to end up the winning run of the second seeded Tilloo while taking 36 minutes on court.
Sixth seeded Kulkarni was in completely dominating position in the arena as he played positive and aggressive badminton that enabled him to wrap up a comprehensive victory in straight sets.
In contrast, the in-form Tilloo tried his level best to stop the progress of his lower ranked opponent but failed to make the right choice of shots and eventually lost the battle in a vulnerable manner.
Kulkarni played with phenomenal control in his strokes and managed to control the affairs from starting points of the opening game.
The impressive craft and remarkable strategy helped Kulkarni to put his rival in all sorts of trouble in the arena.
Until the mid-game interval in the opening set of this title battle, the lower ranked Kulkarni was leading the game with a wonderful difference.
After the one-minute break, the sixth seeded Kulkarni was focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a sound gap.
Kulkarni continued executing powerful smashes in targeted areas and eventually bagged the opening game with a reasonable margin of 21-14.
Tilloo geared up his speed to play positive badminton in starting half of second game but could not pile up pressure on his rival.
Kulkarni was in incredible control of the game and he did not face any problem in setting up a sound lead until the one-minute break.
Tilloo failed to put up strong show in the second game of this battle as his opponent Kulkarni played positive badminton and wrapped up the set with a reasonable 21-14 score on the board.
The in-form Kulkarni made his presence strongly felt by finishing off the final contest in a dominating fashion with a controlled margin of 21-14 and 21-14.
