Amar'e Stoudemire all set to make a comeback after missing a whole week of action - NBA Update
New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire missed a complete week of NBA action due to his brother’s demise, who, unfortunately passed away in a car crash on February 6th.
It was a tough week for him and his family without a doubt, however life goes on and that is what Stoudemire also seems to believe. He returned to basketball courts on Monday to practice with his team mates for the upcoming games.
Amar’e watched most of the Knicks scrimmages during the week off and was extremely delighted with his team’s performance the whole week, especially with the Knicks rising star Jeremy Lin.
Amar’e added that in a sad time, his team mate Jeremy Lin’s outstanding performance helped him and his family big time in taking their mind away from the tragedy at home. Shedding light on this and showering praise on the Lin,
Amar’e said.
"The only positive for us during that whole week was we were watching the basketball games and we were watching Linsanity,"
“My family was getting a kick out of it. That's the only smiles they really had all week. It was great to see that. It's been a tough week." Amar’e added, “Lin is finding guys out there. He's playing totally unselfish. He's taking
what the defence gives him. He's studying, which is what you want from your point guard, a guy who wants to be that facilitator and get guys involved and get guys open shots”
Lin has been in phenomenal form the last week and guided Knicks to 5 consecutive wins over the period. For his brilliant display, he was also awarded the Eastern Conference player of the week.
Amar’e said he is excited with the prospect of playing with Lin in the upcoming games.
He was of the view that Lin has helped the Knicks, who were having a pretty ordinary season before Lin’s heroics, in getting back some momentum. With Carmelo Anthony also expected to make a comeback this week, after missing three
games due to groin injury, Amar’e predicted it would be a fruitful week ahead for the Knicks.
Stoudemire has played with some of the better point guards in the league like Phoenix Suns Steve Nash and New York Knicks Raymond Felton and he believes, with Lin in the team, he would develop the same chemistry with him as he
had managed to develop with those two.
