Amar’e Stoudemire not expected to be back with New York Knicks till Christmas – NBA News
The New York Knicks were expecting their All Star forward Amar’e Stoudemire to return some time near Christmas this season and compete in the Knicks Vs Los Angeles Lakers fixture set for Christmas. However, that seems to be looking
rather difficult as Stoudemire does not know if he will be ready to play by that time. Neither Stoudemire nor the Knicks are saying anything on his return, and the team has yet to release any sort of timeline about his return. However, sources inside the Phoenix
Suns organization, his old team, have said that Stoudemire is not confident that he will be back to full health and playing fitness and form by the time Christmas is around.
“Earlier, Stoudemire told several friends with the Suns organization that reports that he’ll play Christmas Day against the Lakers are simply guesswork. “He said he’s not ready to commit to that date,” said a Suns official. “How
would he know today that he can play on Christmas? He doesn’t know if he’ll be ready by then,” reports the New York Daily.
The Knicks seem to be doing very well with Stoudemire out and Anthony playing the four position. Stoudemire’s absence from the team has given further proof that both Anthony and Stoudemire do not work well together on the floor,
and that Anthony is more of a force at the four spot as compared to the three spot. He played at the four spot in the London Olympics earlier this year, and was one of the best scorers in the competition. With the Knicks doing so well in their current line-up,
Stoudemire has said that he does not have any issues coming off the bench for the team if it means continued success, adding that for him the most important thing at the moment is the success of the team.
However, many analysts say that the Knicks cannot win an Eastern Conference Championship without Stoudemire, and need to get him to form some sort of chemistry with center Tyson Chandler at least, so that both can handle the front
court for the Knicks and improve their defence. Stoudemire has a great deal of work to do before he returns, and even more work once he returns to the Knicks roster.
