The star power forward, who went through on-court drills for the first time since an arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Nov.1, says it is all about winning for him....
Amar’e Stoudemire is one part of the star trio at the New York Knicks, also including Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler. The power forward has however on a downhill ever since Carmelo made his way into the Madison Square Garden,
and that has a lot to do with his injury issue. The latest of those was a left knee issue that came up just before the start of this season.
Stoudemire went through an arthroscopic procedure on Nov.1 and has since been rehabbing. The forward hit the court for the first time on Tuesday and when asked about the possible timeline of his return, he seemed unsure;
"I don't have a date in my mind when I'm going to return," Stoudemire said. "I just want to keep improving."
Mike Woodson also remained mum on the issue, but stressed that he will not bring Stoudemire back on the court till he is a hundred percent.
Without Stoudemire, the Knicks have gone 18-6 so far this season and are sitting at the top the Eastern Conference. With Stoudemire expected to return somewhere at the end of this year, there have been fears that he can disrupt
the progress of the team. His chemistry with Carmelo Anthony has been somewhat of an issue ever since the two got together, and considering that there have been many voices urging the use of Stoudemire as a super-sub.
When asked about the possibility, Stoudemire said that he was comfortable to perform in any capacity provided the Knicks just keep on winning;
"You guys know me, ever since I've been here I've been all about winning and been a total team player," Stoudemire said Tuesday. "Whatever it takes to win, that's the goal."
With Woodson not willing to hold a full team practice due to a busy schedule in the coming week, the Knicks big is currently practicing with NBA D-League team, the Erie BayHawks, to get back in full shape.
