Amar’e Stoudemire’s new low post game intrigues Carmelo Anthony – NBA Update
New York Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudemire has spent a lot of time working on his post up skills with NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon during the summer and that is something his teammate Carmelo Anthony is very excited about.
"But him going down there and putting me on the wing, now I get to play off of him rather than me going down there and him playing off of me, which could be a deadly weapon if it all works out.”
Since the arrival of Carmelo Anthony at the Big Apple franchise, Stoudemire’s role on the court has been reduced. From being the go-to man in the team, Stoudemire’s game was limited to the post area and his offensive abilities
there left a lot to be desired.
It was that very concern which forced the forward to consult ‘the Dream’, and according to some reports the move was facilitated by the Knicks coach Mike Woodson. Amare spent nearly two weeks with Olajuwon and if effective, the
stint would give the Knicks offense a whole new dimension.
Stoudemire working down low effectively will leave a lot of space for perimeter shooters and Anthony, above all, will make the most of the open opportunities coming his way. Since returning from a successful Olympic campaign, Anthony
has taken only a little time off but has not been able to watch Stoudemire’s new skills.
However, he looks forward to seeing how working out with ‘The Dream’ has helped his team-mate out.
"I've been looking for him, but I haven't see him yet. So I'm ready to see what he's added to his arsenal, and I'm excited . . . that he even went down there and started working with The Dream.”
A more lethal Stoudemire gives the Knicks a better chance to contend for the NBA Championship. The two main players have failed to develop on court chemistry in nearly one and a half season and it seems that Woodson has now defined
a script for Stoudemire to work on. With Tyson Chandler already present, the player will get a lot of help in the front court, and for Stoudemire now, it’s only a matter of applying the knowledge and skill on the court.
