I know that when you start out amateur boxing you are a novice fighter but i was wondering after how many fights are you considered an "open" fighter(i think thats wat its called). Someone told me it was like 5 or 10 fights not sure.

Also another question how many fights do amateur boxers usually have before they go pro because I know a lot of amateur have 140 fights, win some tourneys and then decide to go pro. but do all pros do that??

  1. The rule of thumb was 10 fights but you can turn open when you think your ready I did after  about 3 or 4 fights. There is no usual amount of fights before turning pro you turn pro when you think your ready. Go to box records if you want to see someone who turn pro before they should have there is a fighter named Larry White he was a great prospect but he turned pro with only one amateur fight he is still a good prospect but he has a bad record  I think he is 3and 4 does not look good he would not listen to me
