Amateur Jennifer Kirby set to face rivals at Waterloo this week
Canadian Jennifer Kirby looks set to participate in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, scheduled to be held from June 21-24, at Waterloo, Canada, as she has vowed to do her best.
Kirby is an amateur star, and she believes that her hard work will finally pay off this week. Boasting a stunning profile, the Canadian star is regarded as one of the most competent amateurs for the Manulife
LPGA Classic 2012.
Speaking to the media during her interview, Kirby said that she will put her best foot forward and gain confidence by facing big names. She pointed out that the field is pretty strong, but she is determined
to prove her worth.
Representing the University of Alabama as a junior player, the young prodigy has helped her team shine in several events. She helped her team win the 2012 NCAA Championships.
Kirby said that she has gained plenty of confidence by playing at a university level, but professional tournaments require more strength and skills. She went on to say that good training on the practice range
has put her in a better position today, and she is ready to put her skills to the test at Waterloo.
In addition to helping her University’s team record a victory in the current season, the golfing sensation also proved her mettle in one-on-one competitions. For instance, she grabbed attention last season
when she won the 2011 Mason Rudolph Fall Preview.
"When you win like for your team in a national setting, it was incredible, and it's just, you know, it's the icing on the cake for a good year for me and our team," said Kirby. "So it's nice because you're
around those girls every day for an entire year and just for all your hard work to pay off, it was really special".
When asked how the local support is going to impact her game this week at Waterloo, Kirby said that she is more than thrilled that a prestigious LPGA event is being staged in Canada. She hoped that local players
will enjoy massive support from the crowd.
“I think it's really great to have another event in Canada. The CN was the main thing for the past however many years they've held it. It was a major at one point,” Kirby shared.
