  1. there are a lot of things you need to get down well before you step in that ring as an amateur.  depends on where you're starting from, however.  you need to make sure you have your basics of punching, slipping, blocking, footwork down.  furthermore, you also need to make sure you are in good condition.  dont neglect your roadwork!

hopefully you have a trainer who can make sure you get those pointers down!

  2. to register all you need to do is to go to usaboxing.org, go to the members section, contact the Representative that lives closest to you, contact him/her and let him/her know you need a trainer near where you live and that you want to register as an amateur boxer. as to when you will fight will be when your trainer feels that you are ready and won't be getting in the ring just to get hurt b/c a trainer won't want that liability attached to his name. especially in amateur boxing

  3. a lot of things:

    determination

    conditioning

    speed

    strength

    stamina

    and heart..

those shots that hit arent pillows just because we are wearing gloves..

they feel like stones attached to the hands..

    you need HEART

    boxinggyms.com

    find a gym

    go there

work with a trainer for probably 4-8 months

    get in perfect shape.

    fight

note: when you get in the best shape ever, nothing feels better..
