Amauri stays in Italy, joins Parma for the season
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Amauri-c5381 Carvalho de Oliveira, the out-of-favour Juventus striker, has finally decided to stay in Italy by joining fellow club Parma. A few hours ago, the striker was being linked with Premier League clubs Fulham and West Bromwich Albion. Nonetheless, the
last-minute turn of events took everyone by surprise, as the player decided to prolong his stay in Italy for the current season.
Some analyse the deal as a blow to the Old Lady of Italy, others see it as having no effect on their current season. Reasons for both conclusions are simple. Juventus have lost their attacking strength to injuries, therefore they may well be focussing on
signing new strikers instead of retaining old ones. Amauri was also ‘needless’ at Juventus, at least according to their own pundits. Nonetheless, the player had been featuring regularly for them. His only problem, though serious, was scoring.
According to sources, the player and his agent met Parma officials a few hours ago, finalising one of the fastest deals. Amauri will decide about his next move in the beginning of the summer when the season finishes and his loan contract ends.
From a striker’s standards, there has always been a scoring problem with Amauri. Though he featured a lot in the past two seasons, he acquired only 6 goals. His last goal came about a year ago, a fact that ranks him much lower.
As the January transfer window comes to a close, all clubs are looking to make last-minute adjustments to their squads.
