Amaury Leveaux excels in Men’s 100m freestyle semi-finals: Day four – European LC Championships
Amaury Leveaux of France excelled in the semi-finals of Men’s 100m freestyle on fourth day of the ongoing European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Thursday, May 24.
The 26-year-old Leveaux faced no trouble in occupying the fastest qualification spot of the event as he remained prominently ahead of his strongest challenger throughout the event.
With his alluring efforts, he continued his supremacy over his opponents and emerged on the finishing end for first position by clocking a time of 48.52 seconds.
His gruelling effort was chased by Filippo Magnini of Italy, who stayed 0.32 seconds apart and qualified into the final with the timing of 48.84 seconds.
Third fastest qualification spot of the event was secured by Marco Di Carli of Germany, who was marginally slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 48.96 seconds.
He was chased by Norbert Trandafir of Romania, who was only 0.12 seconds behind and posted a time of 49.08 seconds for fourth position.
Trandafir was chased by Dieter Dekoninck of Belgium, who was 0.11 seconds slower and reported an effort of 49.19 seconds.
Next were the semi-finals of Women’s 100m butterfly, where Ingvild Snildal of Norway stifled hopes of her opponents by occupying top position of the event.
The 23-year-old Snildal remained almost two strokes ahead of her closest rival and hit the finishing end with the timing of 58.07 seconds.
She was followed by Martina Granstroem of Sweden, who stayed 0.32 seconds apart and posted a time of 58.39 seconds for second position.
Granstroem remained 0.40 seconds faster from Kristel Vourna of Greece, who secured third position of the discipline by reporting a time of 58.79 seconds.
The 20-year-old Vourna enjoyed an advantage of 0.05 seconds over Silvia Di Pietro of Italy, who made her way into the playoff by touching the wall with the timing of 58.84 seconds.
In addition, the arena appreciated gruelling efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while these finalists will contend each other in their respective finals to secure top spot on the victory stand for gold medal.
